How Sports Injuries Heal
After many years in practice I have learned to ask each new patient about any sports injuries in their history. Sprains and strains are commonplace events in the experience of athletes and must be treated properly to ensure that they heal properly. Too often athletes will shrug off an injury and "tough it out" and allow bones to heal in incorrect positions.
This is an even worse problem with school age athletes since their bodies are still developing and misalignments often become more exaggerated as they grow. A seriously damaged joint will wear out faster than others and can become arthritic and problematic decades later.
It is very important to make sure bones are adjusted into position so they heal in correct alignment so that the joint will regain full function. That's what chiropractors do.
